Malcom Quarrie's Masters' thesis was expanded into this book and published in 1924 by the Oxford University Press.

It is a study of the Gods of Anglo-Saxon England, specifically those worshipped in the West of England. It concentrates on a fertility Goddess called Shub-Niggurath, who Quarrie claims was worshipped in various forms and under various names by in England by Celts, Romans and Saxons throughout antiquity.
